Can I watch an auction without creating an account?
Yes! Auctions are publicly available to be viewed, but bids cannot be placed without creating an account.
Where can I view the terms and conditions for a specific auction?
The terms of each auction are displayed under the seller’s tab on the auctions main page. View locations, payments, removal deadlines and other important information here. In auctions that contain multiple sellers, please refer to the terms on each lot listing.
I have a question about a specific item in an auction.
WireBids is an auction platform, independent sellers post their equipment on our site for auction. Please refer to the seller for specific questions regarding the item, payment, or shipping, as they are in possession of the equipment. Their contact information is available by selecting the link under the lot title that reads “Sold by:” and the Seller’s name or company.
How do I bid or place a maximum bid?
Open the auction or lot you would like to bid on. You can browse by auction, category, your watchlist or by using the search bar at the top of the website.
When you find the correct lot, locate the bid box to the right of the catalog photo. Enter your maximum bid and press "BID." The website will automatically bid on your behalf in increments until your maximum bid has been reached.
What is a max bid?
A max bid is the maximum amount you wish to bid. This number will not be displayed to others. WireBids will competitively place bids on your behalf until you are the highest bidder or your maximum bid has been reached, whichever is lower.
Bidding increments are predetermined and as follows:
Bid Amount | Auto-bidding increments |
---|---|
Less than $250 | $1 |
$250 - $999 | $10 |
$1,000 -$9,999 | $50 |
Less than $250 | $10,000 or up |
I want an item now. What do I do?
Items that are listed in an auction are not priced to sell at a flat rate at that time. Try placing a max bid to ensure that you win at the end of the auction. If you're looking for something and don't want to, or cannot, wait for an auction to end, WireBids now offers Fixed-Price listings that are available for immediate purchase, where you have the option to Make an Offer or Buy it Now. Browse our fixed-price listings here.
I want to bid, but I need to know more about the item first.
Contact the seller directly with specific questions about the lots or equipment by clicking the 'Contact Seller button while viewing the lot you're interested in. You can also view the Seller’s contact information by selecting their name where it says “Sold by:” under the lot title. This will bring up their user profile with available contact information.
What is a Reserve?
A reserve is a set price determined by the seller and approved by WireBids that is the minimum acceptable amount that the seller will let the item go for. Reserves are put into place on items with a high ticket value or items that the seller may have put a lot of investment into. When there is a reserve placed on an item, that lot will not sell unless the reserve has been met.
Why am I not winning?
Another bidder may have placed a higher max bid, even though your bid was higher than the current price. Try bidding a higher amount until you are the highest bidder, remembering not to bid higher than you intend to spend, factoring in the buyer’s premium added to the hammer price.
It is also possible that you have not reached the Reserve Price yet. If the reserve has not yet been met, your bid will automatically be placed against the system and bid up until the reserve has been met.
How long does an auction last?
Typically auctions run for about 2 weeks. Sellers determine the duration of their auctions, as well as lot ending intervals. Lot ending intervals mean that lots may be staggered by a set number of minutes to avoid all lots ending at once. Additionally, bidding extensions are put into place so that if a bid has been placed in the last few minutes, the auction automatically extends several minutes. This limits the possibility of last minute bidding and bid-sniping.
Why didn't the auction end when advertised?
The auction will be extended several minutes if a bid has been placed in the last 10 minutes. This is to prevent bid-sniping and to provide a fair playing field to those who may not be ready to make a fast decision.
Why do I have to register for a specific auction?
Some of our auctions require registration for international bidders. Some sellers may require a refundable deposit. Some sellers may require just a phone call to confirm shipping arrangements. Please contact the individual sellers for more information. Their contact information will be displayed on the individual auction page.
How do I know if I've won?
The website will immediately indicate if you have won or not once the lot closes. If you have won, you will be able to immediately view your invoice by viewing the "My Purchases" option in the user menu, located in the top right corner. WireBids will email you a link to your invoice as well. If you believe yourself to be the winner of the auction but do not receive an invoice in your email, check your spam folder and the “My Purchases” option before contacting WireBids for further assistance.
I won! What now?
You will receive an email invoice with all payment and shipping information within 24 hours. You can also find copies of your invoices here. At times, WireBids may have auctions including lots from multiple sellers, and a separate invoice will be generated for each seller. Contact your seller directly to arrange shipping and payment methods. Their direct contact information is located on your invoice. If for some reason you are having trouble contacting your Seller please let us know. WireBids does not facilitate payment or shipping, but may be able to reach out to your seller on your behalf to find a resolution.
How much time do I have to send my payment?
Payment deadlines are specified by each seller in their seller terms, and the payment deadline should be available on your invoice. The sooner payment is arranged, the more likely you are to receive your purchase on time!
Please bid with care. If you are not able to purchase the item you have bid on, please contact WireBids immediately to cancel your bid.
How do I get an item shipped?
Unless the seller offers delivery in their terms, you’ll have to arrange shipping. This information can be found under the shipping tab on the auction page.
Are there any fees involved in buying?
Creating an account is free and you will not owe anything unless you win.
The buyer's premium is paid be the winner as a percentage of the winning bid in addition to the final hammer price. You can find the buyer's premium on the individual lot listing, above the bid amount, and this will be automatically included on your invoice should you win.
Why didn't I win the item?
A seller may reject a bid if circumstances have changed; for instance the lot may have been damaged or the description did not adequately describe the lot. WireBids may reject bids if we find that the seller has violated our terms or the item’s description is deficient. If you think you have experienced an error, please contact us.
I won an item, but I don’t want it.
Please bid with care! When a buyer bids on an item, makes an offer, or selects “Buy Now”, they are committing to purchasing that item in full. If attempts to contact the buyer or collect payment fail, their account may be flagged and the item is considered to be forfeited. In instances of multiple non-payments, or non-payments on high ticket items, the user’s account status may be placed under review on a case-by-case basis. The review process for non-payments may result in user account suspension or account termination.

How do I create a lot listing?
How will you advertise my auction?
We offer a prime listing on our front page, plus a featured slide in our banner. We create customized email and marketing campaigns to reach more than 10,000 WireBids users and 60,000 industry leaders.
I am only selling a few items, can I buy advertising for them?
At this time, WireBids does not offer paid advertising services for a particular seller or lot, but we do have complimentary marketing campaigns offered for all auctions. WireBids mission is to create a platform for different sellers to sell their items on an even playing field and offer the same level of service to all of our customers. Any lots chosen for a marketing campaign in a combined auction are selected because they have proven to bring additional traffic and likely purchasers of your equipment to the auction.
What if I don’t like the final sale price of the item?
If you are concerned about the closing price, please submit a reserve for the item and discuss it with your WireBids account representative. A reserve ensures that the item will not sell under a specified price.
The auction closing is considered a binding contract between the seller and the buyer. If it is discovered that a seller is refusing to sell an item at a price, their account will be flagged and placed under formal review.
How do I collect my payments?
Our system will generate email invoices for you. You will ultimately be responsible for collecting payments.Click here for more information on what to do when your auction ends.
